DJ NAG

Dr. DJ Nag is the President of Innovaito LLC, an intellectual property strategy think tank launched in 2018. Currently he also serves as an independent board member and Chair of the Governance committee at Crown Electrokinetics Inc (NASDAQ: CRKN), an energy saving technology company.

Previously, he was the Chief Investment Officer and head of IP and partnership at Ventech Solutions Inc., a healthcare technology company that manages quality data for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  He successfully led Ohio State University, Rutgers University and University of Nebraska’s technology transfer offices that included licensing, startups and investments.

As an entrepreneur he led a number of start-ups in the intellectual property strategy, artificial intelligence, and medical device space. His startup received SBIR funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Globally renowned as a consultant in patent monetization and intellectual property strategy, he has worked with many Fortune 500 companies, universities, and national governments. He was a Director of Ocean Tomo and a Vice President at ICAP Ocean Tomo leading patent transaction markets. He was recognized as one of the top IP strategists by IAM300 in 2019. DJ was on the Board of AUTM, the leading technology transfer association, from 2012-14. He has been actively working with governments and universities in Poland, Japan, India, Turkey, Brazil, South Korea and Ukraine. 

Currently he teaches intellectual property strategy and negotiations as a Professor of Practice at Rutgers University, Lecturer at the ITQB NOVA, Oeiras, Portugal and Visiting Professor at Shizuoka University, Japan. He volunteers as the Chair of the Ohio IP Alliance, the Executive-in-Residence at the Dublin City Schools leading a startup academy for high school students and served on the Foundation board at the Dublin Methodist Hospital. 

He holds a Ph.D. in biophysical chemistry, MS in chemistry and computer sciences, MBA from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He was summa cum laude in Bachelors in Pharmaceutical Engineering from Jadavpur University (top 10 in India) and received the M.L. Khorana Gold medal for placing #1 in India in pharmaceutical sciences (1992).

Brian Cummings

Partner

Brian Cummings is a Partner at Innovaito and the CEO of Brevelex. Brian has had a successful career in starting hundreds of technology based companies and is passionate about changing the way in which breakthrough technologies get commercialized.

He is a Founder and/or CXO of a number breakthrough companies including Mu Therapeutics – developing a novel vaccines for addiction, Technium – a SAAS company that analyzes and aggregates Big Ideas, Tao – a medical device merchant bank,  and Motive – an accelerator based on NISI principles. Brian has generated over $100 million in licensing and ventures revenue and was most recently Vice President of Technology Commercialization at Ohio State University and President of the Ohio State Innovation Foundation.  In that role he transformed the office led the creation of over 20 new entrepreneurial based programs, tripled the number of start-ups, doubled the number of inventions and increased the portfolio valuation over 30 fold.  

Previously he was Executive Director of the Technology Commercialization Office at the University of Utah and Associate Vice President for Technology Ventures. Brian has set up multiple seed and venture capital funds and with his partner, Paul Ahlstrom, developed a unique seed funding model called KickStart to align early stage investors.  

Previously, Brian led the life science commercialization efforts at the University of Texas and structured one of their largest deals to date. Brian has served on multiple Boards including e-SENS Inc., Tao Ventures, Catheter Connections, The Rocky Mountain Research Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases, The Governor’s Board for Business Resource Centers, The Kickstart Seed Fund, The Renaissance Foundation, The Edison Institute, SciTech the LES Board for Technology Commercialization Structure and Development and Alta Innovation Institute.

Dr. Mohua Bose

Senior Technology Analyst, pharmaceutical and biological sciences 

Experience in R&D and project management, includes working at Inbios, Inc. She has a strong technical background that includes enzymology, protein engineering, immunodiagnostics, infectious diseases and Alzheimer’s disease. On top of extensive laboratory technical skills in molecular biology, protein chemistry/biochemistry, enzymology and synthetic chemistry. Dr. Bose received her Ph.D. in Bioorganic Chemistry from the University of Nebraska. After graduate school, she completed postdoctoral work at The Scripps Research Institute for 2 years and thereafter a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Pathology at Stanford University.

Senior Consultant, Biomedical and medical devices 

Xiang Li graduated from the Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering program at Columbia University in 2019, prior to that she earned her Bachelors of Biomedical Engineering degree from Stony Brook University

Xiang currently works at InnovAito for biomedical and medical device related technology due diligence projects.  Xiang’s academic and professional background thus far encompasses an interdisciplinary overlap of business operations and innovative technology. With her background in biomedical engineering and a passion for healthcare innovation, Xiang has demonstrated experience in a wide range of projects from due diligence, analyzing biotechnology, to market research and IP analysis.

She also has experience working at Crothall Healthcare, focusing on clinical laboratories, dealing with all types of laboratory equipment from the technical perspective on a daily basis, while also managing day to day operations for the unit covering a dozen public hospitals in New York. 

In the past Ms. Li worked at Ventech Solutions as an intellectual property and technology due diligence analyst. Ventech Solutions manages quality data from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid services (CMS). 

In her spare time, Xiang likes traveling, which brings her a lot of happiness and passion.

Lillian Shaked

Lillian specializes in corporate and commercial law, representing all development stages of Israeli, US and European high-tech companies. Lillian also works with some of Israel’s most prominent venture capital funds and their portfolio companies, and advises on business, financial, tax and intellectual property issues involved in establishing and growing businesses.

Her counsel includes day-to-day management; private and venture capital financing; strategic alliances and joint ventures; technology and commercial transactions including OEM, distribution, reseller and VAR agreements; and M&A transactions in Israel and abroad. Lillian has extensive experience in the patent monetization field, where she regularly advises patent buyers, sellers and licensors on the intricacies of monetizing their IP rights. Lillian’s expertise in this field encompasses the full monetization life-cycle, from financing and sourcing of patents, through the patent acquisition process, and culminating with licensing and settlement arrangements. Lillian works with several of the world’s leading public and private patent licensing businesses.

Prior to founding Shaked & Co., Lillian was a partner in the high-tech department of GKH, a large and well-known law firm in Tel Aviv. Before joining GKH, she was a partner in a large law firm in Ramat Gan. Lillian was raised in Ottawa, Canada.

Chip is an enthusiastic relationship builder and sales professional with 30 years experience in IP and healthcare. He was at IPwe for four years leading global business development, working with universities, Fortune 500 companies and SMEs. 

Chip applies his unique skill set by digging deep into every opportunity and building key strategic relationships that create value for all parties. Well versed in technology, business and international markets he plays a critical role in all aspects of our business development. Chip got his education at Penn State.

Outside of work, Chip is a musician, professional chef and enjoys herding cats.
